About The French Resistance
The French Resistance (French: La Résistance) was a collection of organizations who fought the Nazi occupation of France and the collaborationist Vichy régime during World War II. These groups of armed men and women called Maquis and were guerrilla units of the French resistance movement that were active during the Second World War. The Maquis - as a secret army - played an important role in destroying critical infrastructure of the Germans in the preparation of D-Day, the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944.
