Lipizzaner Horses
The Lipizzaner is a horse breed named for the Lipizzaner Stud of the Habsburg monarchy. The world-famous Lipizzaners owe their name to the village of Lipica in today's Slovenia, near which the former court stud farm with Spanish horses was founded in 1580. Lipizzaner stallions are not born with the famous white coat, but turn that colour after six to nine years. The Lipizzaners are closely associated with the Spanish Riding School of Vienna in Austria, where the Lipizzaner horses are trained the classical dressage, stylized jumps and other beautiful movements.
